Suzanne Lawson

Suzanne Lawsonis a Western Australian artist working primarily in oils.

Her loves are portraiture, still life and florals. Suzanneisinspired by the old master’s technique of layering paint over a toned ground surface and slowly building up transparent layers, which at times can take weeks to achieve. Herstyle is considered contemporary ‘painterly’ realism, with a focus on light and form.

Whilst balancing portraiture and still life, seekingthrough painting to capture a moment in time, to depict the joy and challenges we may face and to show beauty in everyday things. Suzanne has been a finalist at a number of Western Australian art prizes in 2021 (including City of South Perth Emerging Artists Award, City of Melville and City of Stirling), and was selected as a semi-finalist in the 2021 Doug Moran National Portrait Prize.
