Kirsty Watkins

Kirsty Watkins at Open Studios in Melville

Kirsty is a photo realism acrylic painter, best known for her Rottnest and water studies. She teaches and runs a gallery at Studio Door in Myaree.

West Australian artist Kirsty Watkins captures the essence of Australian costal and bush landscapes in her acrylic paintings.

A childhood spent in the Bickley Valley on the outskirts of the Perth Hills was the beginning of a connection to the bush where Kirsty found herself in awe of the landscape around her. Moving to the coast as an adult the desire for open vistas and natural light drew her to the ocean where she began to explore above, under and on the sea, through her work. She has completed an number of winter residencies on Rottnest Island where her work became widely known.

Kirstyโ€™s style is an exploration of light and natural beauty, captured in her modern photo realism style.
