Artist Bio

Judi Smith is a visual artist working primarily in acrylics on canvas. For her, strong light and sharp shadows and the shapes created by both are key considerations when creating compositions, looking past the obvious and giving presence to the often overlooked.

Judi trained and worked as an art teacher in Queensland before moving to Western Australia and for many years, she has painted each week with an encouraging group of friends affectionately known as “The Art Ladies”. She has been a finalist in the Melville Art Awards 2021 and 2022 and participated in the Melville Open Studios event for the first time in 2022.
